No. 15 women's basketball runs win streak to 10 games with 83-50 victory over Adrian (Mich.)
The No. 15 Ohio Northern women's basketball team extended their winning streak to 10 games with a 83-50 victory at Adrian (Mich.), Saturday afternoon at Merillat Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears are now 11-1 on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 3-8.
Junior Cenzie Yoder led the way for ONU with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting. She also grabbed seven rebounds.
All 14 players who appeared in the game for Northern scored at least two points.
ONU used a 19-0 run to open up a 30-11 lead with 7:15 left in the first half.
Yoder led the Polar Bears during the run with eight points, freshman Brooke Espenschied scored four points, senior Morgan Dumbaugh chipped in with three points and senior Katie Jones and Snyder each added a basket.
Northern owned a 42-25 lead heading into the half.
The Polar Bears came out of the break quick and got baskets from senior Katie Mengos, Snyder and Yoder to push their lead to 48-25 with just under 18 minutes to play.
The Bulldogs would get no closer than 19 points for the rest of the game.
ONU shot a solid 31-of-64 (48.4 percent) from the field, while Adrian was 21-of-69 (30.4 percent).
Both teams pulled down 43 rebounds on the afternoon.
The Polar Bears recorded a season high 14 steals and scored 24 points off of 22 Bulldog turnovers.
Ohio Northern will return to action on January 5, when they host No. 2 Mount Union in a key OAC early season matchup. Tip off is scheduled for 3 pm at the ONU Sports Center.
