Reich gains region scholar/athlete honor
Senior Hannah Reich (Howell, Mich.) added to her impressive resume during the 2017 season as she was named a First Team Scholar All-North/Central Region honoree by the United Soccer Coaches.
The senior was one of only two athletes from the Ohio Athletic Conference to be named a Scholar All-Region honoree and the only member of the OAC to be named first team.
She was also named an Academic All-OAC awardee in 2017.
Reich, a four-year starter as a defender, started in 79 of 80 career games, while appearing in all 80 games. She collected her first All-Great Lakes Region accolade for her career this season after being dubbed a First Team All-Great Lakes Region member.
The senior is a 4-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree and a two-time First Team-All OAC selection. She was also named the OAC Defender of the Year for her efforts this season.
Reich was a key asset to a Polar Bear defense that set a school record with 14 shutouts this season, breaking a 20-year old mark from 1997. Northern also tied the school record for consecutive shutouts with seven straight shutouts during the regular season.
