ONU wrestlers fall in national duals
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The No. 24 Ohio Northern wrestling team fell to Cortland State (N.Y.) 29-12 in the first round of the NWCA National Duals at Memorial Coliseum on Thursday morning.
The Polar Bears drop to 4-4 overall, while the Red Dragons improve to 4-3.
Freshman Noah Mattin (Archbold) got Ohio Northern on the board with an 8-4 decision at 141 pounds.
Ninth-ranked junior Clayton Davidson (Kirtland) also won by decision, posting a 3-0 victory at 174 pounds.
Seventh-ranked sophomore Nate Barcaskey (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) wrapped up the dual with a pin in 6:01 at Heavyweight.
CSU will now advance to the second round and will face No. 3 Augsburg (Minn.) at 11 am, while ONU will fall into the consolation bracket and will face either No. 21 Centenary (N.J.) or No. 4 Ithaca (N.Y.) at 1 pm.
