MLK event planned in Kenton for Monday
The pastor of Payne Chapel AME Church, its members, and community activists, and clergy from the Kenton area are putting the final touches on this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in Kenton.
The day will begin with a community program at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. John’s Church, 211 E. Carrol St. in Kenton.
Representatives from political, religious, and ethnic organizations will discuss Dr. King’s motivation to empower the people to make their voices heard.
The program will conclude with a unity march that will begin and end at St. John’s Church. The march will be followed by a free meal which will allow participants to reflect on the day.
Panelists include the religious community, HOLA (Grassroots Latina Organization), Hardin County Democrats, Hardin County Republicans, League of Women Voters, and AHEAD.
