Women’s track finishes 4th of 17 teams
WESTERVILLE — The No. 5-ranked Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team finished fourth at the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday at Otterbein's Clements Recreation Center.
The Polar Bears (28-5 overall) finished fourth of 17 teams with 67 points. Otterbein won the team title with 109 points, Mount Union was second with 106 points and Ohio Wesleyan was third with 87 points.
Sophomore Taylor Lavey (New Baltimore, Mich./Findlay) and junior All-American Maddie Reed (Piketon) led Ohio Northern individually with second place finishes.
Lavey was second in the 60-meter dash in :07.99 and Reed was second in the pole vault, clearing 3.83 meters.
Lavey combined with junior Avery Ewing (Kokomo, Ind./Eastern), junior Taylor Fisher (Wapakoneta) and senior NCAA Champion Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) to win the 4x400 relay in 4:03.63.
Reed was one of three Polar Bears to place in the pole vault, as sophomore Maggie Krause (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) was fifth with a height of 3.53 meters and senior Kelly Wollenslegel (Clyde) was seventh with a height of 3.38 meters.
Ewing also had a third place finish in the 800 in 2:18.40 and junior Ashlie Baumann (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) was third in the 3,000 in 10:18.09.
Freshman Stella DeWitt (Weston/Cardinal Stritch Catholic) was third in the triple jump (10.66 meters) and was fourth in the long jump (5.25 meters).
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at the Kenyon Classic.
