Glen R, Hites 1941-2018
Glen R. Hites, age 76, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 9:05 a.m. at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.
Glen was born on December 7, 1941 in Kenton, Ohio, to Walter and Mabel (Switzer) Hites, both of whom are deceased. He was once married to Roberta “Nanci” Elwood, of Ada, Ohio. He then married Elinor Southward -Moll and she survives in Upper Sandusky.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura (Tim) Gossard of Ridgeway, Ohio, and a son, Jeffrey (Deeanna) Hites of Urbana, Ohio, step children Kevin (Tammy) Williams of Lapeer, Michigan, stepdaughters: Robin Williams of Bettsville, Ohio, and Connie (Dave Flannigan) Walter of Rawson, Ohio. 4 grandchildren: Lauren Gossard, Ashley (Eric) Haudenshield, Jeffrey Hites, and Crosby (Christin) Hites, 10 great grandchildren: Madisynn Gossard, Wyatt Gossard, Weston, Michaela and Easton Haudenshield, Emmitt Stewart, Ian Holbrook, and Carter, Janie, Dustin and Stella Hites, along with 5 step grandchildren and 1 step great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers: Edwin, Donald, Raymond, and his twin brother Gene, 2 sisters: Edna Mae Roby, and Anna Marie Burger.
Glen was a 1960 graduate of Kenton High School and went on to work as a welder for International Car and then Rockwell International in Kenton, Ohio, retiring in 1983.
He served in the Army in the National Guard for 10 years and was a member of the former Calvary Church of Christ.
For hobbies Glen enjoyed woodworking, doing yardwork especially mowing, fishing, and in his younger years he like to put together model cars.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Fairview McDonald Cemetery in Hardin County with Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating, where military graveside rites will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County or to the Fairhaven Community and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
