What are you reading?
By Darlene Bowers
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Romans 15:13, The Holy Bible
Erin Chrissobolis, wife and mother,
Ada Public Library Board member,
3 year Ada resident
The Bible, considered the sacred scripture of Christianity with the first five books considered the sacred scripture of Judaism is Erin Chrissobolis’ favorite book.
“The Bible is history, romance, action, adventure and absolute truth all in one!” shares Erin, “It never gets old, I’m always learning more and more about God and how He wants me to live.”
According to the website christian-research.org, “The Bible is by far the best-selling book of all time. No one can be absolutely sure exactly how many copies have been printed, sold or distributed.
Bible Society’s attempt to calculate the number printed between 1816 and 1975 produced the figure of 2,458,000,000 – almost 2 and a half billion. Another survey, for the years up to 1992, put it closer to 6 billion. A popular translation of The Bible contains around 774,000 words and it would take you approximately 70 hours to read the whole Bible out loud.”
In addition to The Bible, Erin enjoys historical reads and travel guides. Adorned by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth and various books on Senegal and West Africa (she enjoys traveling!) are on her current reading stack. In addition to Adorned,
Erin recommends:
• The Baker’s Secret by Stephen P. Kiernan (historical fiction)
• The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson (fiction)
• His Word in My Heart: Memorizing Scripture for a Closer Walk with God by Janet Pope (non-fiction)
• Any Lonely Planet travel guide (non-fiction)
