Beaschler takes ONU wrestlers into 31st season
Under the direction of 31st-year head coach Ron Beaschler, the Ohio Northern wrestling program will open its 2018-19 regular season at the Mount Union Invitational on Nov. 10.
The Polar Bears will then return to Ada, raising the curtain on a three-event home slate with a visit from OAC foe Otterbein on Tuesday, Nov. 13. The opening month of action will conclude with trips to the Findlay Open on Nov. 17 and Heidelberg on Nov. 27.
Northern will host the 38th annual ONU Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 1 with opening bouts beginning at 9 a.m.
A dual with Manchester (Ind.) is set for Dec. 7 while an eastward excursion to the Washington & Lee (Va.) Duals concludes the pre-Christmas competition.
Ohio Northern will host their final home dual of the season when Muskingum drops by for a conference affair on Jan. 15. ONU grapplers will also compete in the Bud Whitehall Duals, the OAC Quad Meet, and the Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational during the month.
Back-to-back trips to Baldwin-Wallace on Feb. 2 and Feb. 8 will conclude the regular season.
Individuals will then compete at the NCAA Division III Regionals from Feb. 22-23, seeking to qualify and compete for a national title at the NCAA Division III championships scheduled for March 8-9 in Roanoke, Va.
Last season, the Polar Bears finished with a 9-10 overall record and a 3-3 mark in OAC competitions to finish fourth in the final standings.
