Men’s tennis wins big
OBERLIN — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team opened its 2018-19 season with an oustanding effort at the Oberlin Invitational Saturday and Sunday at the Hunsinger Courts.
The Polar Bears posted a 27-4 record, going 20-3 in singles and 7-1 in doubles play.
There was no team scoring. The tournament featured random draws in both singles and doubles play based on each player's UTR ratings.
Six ONU players posted perfect 5-0 records, going 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles.
Junior Connor Christian (Gallipolis/Gallia Academy), sophomores Vinh Thai(Hilliard/Davidson) and Joji Imatomi (Yokohama, Japan/Kamakura Gakuen) and freshmen Noah Elliott (Hilliard/Davidson), Nate Meadors (Dublin/Jerome) and Andrew Cochran(Wooster) all went undefeated on the weekend.
