A "superior" weekend for Ada band
The Ada High School marching band and color guard earned "Superior" ratings in every area: general effects, auxillary (color guard), music, percussion and visual effects, at the Revere Minutemen OMEA Marching Band competition in Richfield on Sept. 22.
This allows the group to participate in the state marching band finals at the end of October. Superior ratings reflect an outstanding performance with very few technical errors and exemplifying true musical expression. This rating is reserved for outstanding performances. Qualification for State Marching Band Finals is determined regardless of band size.
In addition the Ada High School Marching Band and Color Guard earned 6 first place trophies:
1st place Class C
Best Percussion Class C
Best Auxillary Class C
Best Music Class B & C
Best General Effect Class B & C
Best Visual Effect Class B & C
The groups placed 3rd overall regardless of band size, while the color guard tied for first place overall.
This year’s competition show is titled “Galactic Journey”. The band is composed of 21 instrumentalists, 8 percussionists and 8 color guard members.
Jacob Colwell, Victoria Ross and Alex Morgan serve as field commanders. The band is under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Lischak with color guard advisor Amy Webb. The Ada High School Marching Band and Color Guard will travel to OSU Sept. 29 to compete at the Buckeye Invitational.
