Myrna McCurdy called the 18th meeting (February19th) of the 2012–2013 Kiwanis Year to order at 12:00 noon at McIntosh Center, ONU.

The invocation was offered by Jon Umphress.

In business:
-Members were updated on club finances by Treasurer Bryan Marshall.
-Secretary Brian Meyers reported that Amanda Bennett has submitted her membership application. The club approved her application.
-Joe Ferguson continued to distribute tickets for Pancake Day. He asked the club to purchase two new tables for Pancake Day. The request was approved.
-Jeff Schulman reported four members met to formulates the satellite club formation. Meetings will take place weekly Wednesday’s at 6 PM at Community Health Professionals Building. Everyone will bring in their own dinner if they so desire.
-Claudia Crawford reported that Crock-Pot Tuesday is tonight.  The food needs to be at Restore by 3:00 p.m.
-An Induction ceremony for our new members is scheduled for March 12th.
-Bill Fuller reported that ONU Circle K is meeting tonight at 8:30. They are discussing an adjustment to their meeting time.

Kiwanis Education Minute:
There is no minimum number of members needed to initiate a satellite club.

Something to consider:
From “Live and Learn and Pass it On” from someone aged 52, “I’ve learned that I should make little decisions with my head and the big decisions with my heart.” And from an 82 year old, “I’ve learned that most people are honest.”

After some suspense, John Berg gave a short survey with the questions: 1) what would you put in a fortune cookie, 2) what do you have that you would not throw away, 3) what super power would you like to have.

He then read the members answers and tried to get the group to figure out who had written the answers in the get to know your Kiwanian exercise.

The most common super power requested was mind-reading. The most interesting super power: eidetic memory (photographic memory) was requested.

The Ada Kiwanis Club meets each Tuesday at 12:00 noon at McIntosh Center, ONU. Guests are always welcome.
