Dolores Smith was a retired ONU librarian
Dolores J. Smith, 101, of Ada, Ohio, formerly of Kenton, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, at 1:55 p.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born on July 24, 1917, in Flint, Mich., to the late Albert B. and Gretchen (Woods) Trafelet. On Dec. 30, 1943, Dolores married Harry Curtis Smith, Jr., and he preceded her in death on June 6, 2014.
Dolores retired from Ohio Northern University, Ada, where she had worked as a librarian. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ada and Kenton. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #364 of Kenton.
Surviving are a son, Vernon L. (Barbara) Smith of Ada; a daughter, Joyce Ann (David) Hall of Cincinnati; three grandchildren, Sarah Smith, Matthew (Julie) Hall, and Leah (Greg) Hopkins; five great grandchildren, Nathan Hall, Daniel Hall, Joseph Hall, Aiden Hopkins and Paige Hopkins; and a sister, Louise Gordan of Toledo.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Paul Trafelet; and a sister, Jean Raleigh.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Pastor Jack Duffy officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery, Kenton.
Friends may call from an hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
