Ohio Northern University is hosting several events in February to commemorate Black History Month. All events are free and open to the public. They include:

“Chasing after King & his dream: The civil rights movement after Dr. King’s assassination” at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the English Chapel. Lunch will be served.

Annual Kuumba festival sponsored by the Black Student Union from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday,  Feb. 22, in the McIntosh Center Bear Cave. It will include an evening of music, fashion and talent. Refreshments will be served.

“The Green Book: Guide to Freedom” documentary sponsored by the ONU Black Law Student Association from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on  Thursday, Feb. 28 ,in the College of Law room 125. The film is about the guidebook used by African-American motorists while traveling throughout the U.S. when racism and segregation were rampant. In the segregation era, African-American motorists encountered hostility and intolerance in public accommodations (e.g., hotels, pools, restaurants, etc.).

“Past to Present” annual Black History Month display, available until Feb. 28 in the McIntosh Center display case near the Student Affairs suite.
