Richards and Molinaro compete in NYC this weekend
Former Ohio Northern track and field and cross country standouts Emily Richards and Matt Molinaro will represent the HOKA New Jersey-New York Track Club in the 1,000-meter run competitions at the 2019 Toyota USATF Indoor Championships this weekend at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Facility in Staten Island, N.Y.
Richards will make her first appearance at an indoor national championship after qualifying for the 2017 and 2018 USATF Outdoor Championships in the 800-meter run. She currently owns the fourth-fastest seed time entering the meet.
The women's 1,000-meter run competition opens with the first round at approximately 5:46 p.m. EST on Saturday, February 23. The finals are slated for 4:51 p.m. EST on Sunday.
While at Ohio Northern, Richards accumulated nine NCAA Division III event titles and earned 13 All-American accolades. She additionally holds 13 school records and owns the fastest indoor 800-meter run time in NCAA Division III history with a 2:05.28 effort.
Meanwhile, Molinaro will compete in his first USATF championship meet over the weekend. The former Polar Bear qualified for the championship event with a 2:25.66 seed time.
The men's 1,000-meter run will begin Saturday evening at 6:07 p.m. EST with the opening round. The finals will be held Sunday evening at approximately 5:01 p.m. EST.
Molinaro garnered four All-America honors, captured eight OAC Championship event titles, and was crowned the NCAA Division III indoor 800-meter run champion in 2018 while attending ONU. He was also named to three All-Ohio Athletic Conference teams and the All-Great Lakes Region team in cross country.
