The engineering brain competition Feb. 28
Nearly 500 students from more than 20 high school teams, including many from the region, will compete in the TEAMS competition from 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 28 in the King Horn Field House at Ohio Northern University. The theme of the event is “The engineering brain,” and the local competition is sponsored by the ONU College of Engineering.
You are welcome to cover this event, which should make for outstanding photo, video and interview opportunities as area students show off their engineering skills while exploring career fields.
During this one-day competition, students apply math and science knowledge in practical, creative ways to solve real-world engineering challenges. This three-part competition includes:
Multiple Choice from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Teams use math and science skills to solve real-world engineering challenges.
Design/Build from 10:45 a.m. to noon. Teams design and build a solution to an engineering challenge. This should make for especially good photo/video opportunities.
Essay. Teams researched and wrote in-depth essays prior to the competition day.
TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science) is an annual national competition that is designed to help middle- and high-school students discover their engineering potential.
