Ohio Northern senior infielder Hailee Loughman (Brookville) and freshman pitcher Maddie Anderson(Akron/Ellet) swept the Ohio Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors in softball for the April 8-14 voting period, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Loughman was named the OAC Hitter of the Week while Anderson garnered OAC Pitcher of the Week honors after leading the Polar Bears to an undefeated 4-0 record last week over No. 24 Baldwin Wallace and John Carroll.

Loughman led Ohio Northern with a .615 batting average, eight hits, two doubles, a .667 on-base percentage, and a .769 slugging percentage over the four-game stretch. In addition, she added two walks, three RBI, and ended second on the team with five runs scored.

Anderson had a stellar week in the pitching circle, surrendering just one earned run in 10.0 innings pitched to post a spotless 2-0 record. The Akron native tossed a complete game in the 6-1 nightcap win against the Yellow Jackets while pitching 3.2 innings in relief for the nightcap victory against John Carroll.

The freshman led the team with a 0.70 ERA and ended second on the team with four strikeouts.

The announcement marks the second time in Loughman's career that she has been tabbed the OAC Hitter of the Week, having received her first award in the 2017 campaign. Meanwhile, Anderson receives her first weekly conference accolade with the selection.

The Polar Bears (17-9 overall, 11-1 OAC) have back-to-back road doubleheaders scheduled for April 15 and April 16 against Wittenberg and Otterbein, respectively.
