Bulldog boys shut out by 1st-place Panthers

The visiting Ada baseball team lost 5-0 at league-leading Paulding in Northwest Conference play Monday evening.
The Bulldogs fell to 8-8 and 1-4 in NWC play with the defeat. The Panthers improved to 10-5 and 6-0 in the NWC to stay in first place with the victory.
The Panthers scored singles runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings. Paulding plated two runs in the third.
Austin Amburgey singled twice to provide half of the Bulldog hits. Brandon Hull and Daniel Mattson each added a single.
Panther catcher Hunter Kauser belted two doubles and scored a run for the hosts. Carson Shull singled, drew a walk, scored a run and drove in one run. Evan Edwards scored two runs, singled and walked one time.
Paulding's Kolson Egnor pitched a seven-inning, complete-game shutout to get the win. He struck out 15 Bulldogs and walked two.
The Panthers out-hit Ada only by a 5-4 count.
Ada left four runners on base while Paulding stranded three. The Bulldogs made two errors and the Panthers committed no miscues.

Ada (6-2 home) is slated to host county foe Kenton (3-8) Wednesday, April 24.
The Bulldogs then visit Spencerville (4-13, 2-3 NWC) Thursday, April 25. The Bearcats knocked off Allen East 5-3 Monday.
