INDIAN LAKE - The Ada boys soccer team kicked off its season with a disputed 2-1 defeat at Indian Lake this past Friday evening under the lights.

Ada senior Michael Crouse appeared to tie the match 2-2 when he headed a Jacob Poling pass into the net with just 53 seconds left to play. But the tying goal was waved off by the officials.

"We have pictures of the goal going in but they can't change the call on the field," explained veteran Ada head coach Jason Okuly. "I never saw anything like it. Their players saw it go in.

"Our player chested the ball and followed it into the net; their coach said it went in," he continued. "The only people that were not 100 percent sure it went in were the guys reffing the game. They said they were not sure we actually scored the goal."

Ada senior Isaac Spar scored the first Bulldog goal on an assist from classmate Skylar Williams.

Freshman Grant Preston made 10 saves in goal for the Bulldogs in his debut.

Okuly said he would meet with Ada athletic director Eric Perkins to discuss filing a protest with the OHSAA.

Ada visits Miller City Monday, August 19 at 5 p.m.
