Bell ringers need: No experience necessary, except for a desire to ring a bell and help change a life.
The Hardn County Salvation Army Unit invites Ada area residents to volunteer as a holiday bell ringer in November and December in Ada, according to Kathy Reese chairperson.
“Ada bell ringers are needed from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on five dates this season," said Reese.
Ada's available dates are:
• Friday, Nov. 29 (Friday after Thanksgiving)
• Saturday, Nov. 30
• Saturday, Dec. 7
• Saturday, Dec. 14
• Saturday, Dec. 21
The ringing location in Ada is at Community Market.
Bell ringers may work in pairs, if they wish. Individuals, students, families, service clubs, church groups, student groups are all encouraged to help. Volunteers are asked to sign up for two-hour slots.
Eighty percent of the donations remain in Hardin County for the less fortunate. Started in 1891, the red kettle was used in San Francisco to collect money to feed the less fortunate at Christmas. Today the Salvation Army annually assists more than 4.5 million people.
"Since our local Salvation Army serves all of Hardin County, there are two additional ringing locations in Kenton at Kroger and at Walmart," said Reese.
