Ada’s 2019 zoning permits totaled an estimated value of $727,631, according to the summary presented to Ada council on Feb. 4 by Michael Harnishfeger, zoning inspector.
Last year saw 41 permits issued, down from 56 in 2018. The report reveals two new single-family homes constructed and several residential additions in 2019.
“The greatest requests for permits dealt with fences and sheds,” said Harnishfeger. “And, in 2019 we had progress on the First United Methodist Church parking lot with the demolition of two neighborhood house.”
There were three Board of Zoning Appeals, which allowed builders to construction outside of their setback limitations, to include a home addition, garage construction and a porch expansion.
Harnishfeger said that the non-functioning windmill at the Ada schools continues to be monitored. “This issue remains in litigation and we will continue to monitor and report as information develops,” he said.
He said that since the planning commission and council changed its position on house trailer time limits – from 2-years to 1-year empty – he continues to monitor empty trailers for removal. Currently he is working on two trailers for removal.
