Applications are being accepted for the 2019 Citizens Sheriff’s Academy offered by the Hardin County Sheriff and Ada native Keith Everhart.

The academy takes place from 6 to 8:30 p.m., on consecutive Thursdays from March 5 to April 16, at the sheriff’s office, 1025 S. Main St., Kenton.

The academy offers participants with a working knowledge of the sheriff’s office. It covers various aspects of the sheriff’s responsibilities via classroom discussion and hands-on participation.

Areas of instruction include: sheriff’s administration, enforcement, investigations, special operations, firearms and court services and corrections, which includes a tour of the Multi-County Correctional Facility, Marion.

According to Sheriff Everhart, the Citizens Academy develops a partnership for safety and security for Hardin County citizens.

Applications should be picked up at the sheriff’s office. These must be completed and returned with a $25 non-refundable fee (check or money order, only) by February 29.  

Applicants must be Hardin County residents, 21 or older. Class size is limited. A waiting list will be maintained for future academies. An academy certificate will be awarded for successful completion.
