The Ohio Northern women's tennis team topped Albion (Mich.) 8-1 and regionally ranked Hope (Mich.) 6-3 at the Michigan-Ohio Challenge Saturday morning at the DeWitt Tennis Center at Hope College.

The Ohio-Michigan Tennis Challenge pits three Michigan teams (Albion, Hope, and Kalamazoo) against three Ohio teams (Kenyon, Oberlin, and Ohio Northern).

The Ohio teams finished 7-0 in the challenge.

The Polar Bears improve to 15-4 overall, while the Britons fall to 5-6.

Against Albion, freshman Rachael Miller teamed with junior Michelle Tuma to win 8-3 in a proset at No. 1 doubles.

Sophomores Kristin Cellentani and Brittany Miller won 8-4 at No. 2 doubes and junior Carly Olmstead and freshman Meghan Letizia won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

Freshman Christina Corbean won 8-5 at No. 2 singles and freshman Taryn Strombeck won 8-4 at No. 3 singles.

Junior Lauren Rife won at No. 4 singles 8-4.

Rachael Miller and junior Kelsi Wurm won at Nos. 5 & 6 singles by forfeit.

In the match versus Hope, Tuma and Rachael Miller won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles and Letizia and Olmstead won 8-3 at the No. 2 doubles spot.

Tuma won in singles by a 6-2, 7-6(4) score at No. 1 singles and Corbean won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

Cellentani was victorious at No. 3 singles by a 6-4, 7-5 score and Brittany Miller won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.

Ohio Northern will return to action on Tuesday when it hosts a double header against Heidelberg at 3:30 p.m and Indiana Tech at 6 p.m.
