Down by the station, circa 1900
This familiar Ada scene tells many stories. The photo is from the Ada Public Library photo history collection. It's the Pennsylvania depot in the early 1900s and the photo was courtesy of Viince Reichert.
Note some things that have changed, in addtion to the obvious steam locomotive.
No longer exists:
• Double tracks - today the westbound track, the track with the locomotive
• The side track on the far left side of the photo
• The wooden sidewalk between the tracks, used for persons to enter and exist westbound trains
• The semaphone signal, above the depot
• The buildings directly beyond the depot
Remarkablely, the depot remains very much today as it did in the photo, taken over 100 years ago.
