Lady Bulldogs fight but fall at Panthers

PAULDING - The visiting Ada volleyball team got off to a good start at tough Paulding but lost a four-set Northwest Conference battle Tuesday night.
Ada won the tight first set in overtime 26-24, but then saw the Panthers rally to take the next three games 25-23, 25-17, and 25-14.
The defeat dropped the Lady Bulldog overall record to 7-10 overall and 1-6 in NWC play.
Paulding improved to 13-3 and stayed third in the deep NWC at 5-1 with the win.
Senior Megan Light led Ada with 15 kills, 12 digs and five blocks. Senior Miranda Wills compiled 23 digs, eight kills, two blocks and one ace.
Versatile junior setter Kirsten Poling returned to the lineup after missing three matches due to illness. She passed out 26 assists and also made eight digs to go with five blocks.
Senior Kyie Acheson hustled her way to 18 digs and also served one ace. Sophomore Courtney Sumner mustered up 10 digs and dealt one ace.
The Ada girls are now 3-5 on the road.
The Bulldog reserves lost 2-0 to drop to 5-12.
Ada visits last-place Spencerville (2-13, 0-5 NWC) Thursday, October 8.
