Sylvia Furr 1926 - 2020
Sylvia Furr, 94, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, at 11:25 AM at the Kenton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on Oct. 6, 1926, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to the late Sammie and Rosie Ellen Moore. Sylvia married Walter Wesley Furr and he preceded her in death on June 2, 2005.
Sylvia was a homemaker. She attended the McGuffey Freewill Baptist Church. Sylvia was an animal lover and an avid gardener. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children: Jeff (Lora) Furr of Kenton and Betty (Jay) Woodruff of Marion; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; three brothers: Ezra Moore, Rufus Moore, Jarvis (Bev) Moore; and three sisters: Gladys Draper, Ruth Collins and Isana (Buddy) Collins.
She was preceded in death by two daughters: infant daughter, Patricia and Barbara Harding Carter; three brothers: Jay Moore, Paul Moore and Delmar Moore; and four sisters: Clara Fraley, Edna Moore, Faye Hale and Elsie Burd.
Attendance will be restricted at the funeral and visitation based on space to accommodate social distancing requirements. Face coverings must be worn while attending visitation and service.
Private family services will be held at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with Rev. Donald Webb officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
The funeral service for Sylvia will be live streamed on the Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook Page beginning at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 12, 2020.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
