DELPHOS - The visiting Ada girls soccer team defeated Delphos Jefferson 1-0 in a defensive Northwest Conference battle Monday evening.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the NWC with the regular-season ending win. The Lady Wildcats dropped to 4-9-1 (2-3-1 NWC) with the defeat.
Bulldog Ella Marshall scored the game's lone goal off a long throw-in during the first half. After the in-bounds pass came into play, the ball bounced around and Marshall tapped it into the goal off an assist from Kylie Shafer.
"It wasn't our prettiest game but at the end of the day, I am proud of the win," said Ada head coach A.J. Wahlie.
"The girls showed heart and resilience, and it is always a great feeling to keep a clean sheet (shutout). We will go back to work and start preparing for the tournament."
The 10th-seeded Bulldogs play at powerful fourth seed Mansfield Christian (11-2-1) in the first round of sectional tournament play Monday, October 20 at 5 p.m.
The Ada/MC winner will face second seed Bluffton October 22.
