The Village of Ada was recently named 79th Safest Small Town in America by SafeWise, an organization that contextualizes national crime and safety trends to show how they affect people and their neighborhoods. 

Michael Harnishfeger, Ada police chief, said, “It is our belief that the partnership between law enforcement and those we serve is key to creating a safe community.”

In 2002, the Ada Police Department invented and implemented Project S.A.F.E.R. (Seeking Aid From Every Resident). Harnishfeger said that the relationships forged through this program is invaluable in keeping Ada a SAFER Community.

“We understand the value of a SAFER Community in attracting new residents, students to our university and visitors. We believe that businesses and industries seek out SAFER Communities in which to locate,” he said. 

“We value the quality of life that Ada offers our residents, and it is the commitment of the Ada Police Department to ensure that we continue to foster relationships with those we serve through excellent police services.”

Ada has also been named one of Ohio’s Safest Cities for the past number of years. In another survey it was ranked 7th Safest City by Homesnacks.
