Letter to the Editor: Vote Yes for Ada schools
SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT
On May 7th, you will have an opportunity to show your support for the Ada Exempted Village Schools and the local community.
An additional .75 percent income tax (effective January 1, 2014 – runs for seven years) has been placed on the ballot to maintain vital operations and programming for Ada Schools. Over the past three years, your school district has seen permanent cuts of over $1.3 million from state and federal funding.
In addition to providing a viable education for our children, Ada Exempted Village Schools serves as an anchor for economic development opportunities for the local community. New commercial, residential and retail opportunities feed off of a strong and viable school district. The backbone of any thriving community is its school system.
You can do your part by voting “YES” for the .75% income tax levy. By voting “YES”, you are reinvesting your local dollars back into your school and community. These dollars will help to mold our future generations along with sustaining an important anchor of your community.
