Eugene Shepherd, 1934 - 2013
Eugene Shepherd, age 78, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 9:23 a.m. at his residence in Alger.
He was born on December 11, 1934, in Floyd County, Kentucky, to George and Lucie (Moore) Sheperd. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Cridersville.
He first married Venice Combs and she died on September 1, 1998. He then married Isana Kay Williams on February 12, 2001, and she survives in Alger.
Eugene retired in 1981 after working 20 years as a welder for International Car of Kenton. He attended the United Baptist Church of Alger.
Surviving are three sons, Gordon (Connie) Shepherd of Alger, James Edward (Teresa) Brummett of Alger, and Bruce (Ruthie) Shepherd of Bellefontaine; five daughters, Twila (Tony) Kilburn of Belle Center, Ann Gullett of Harrod, Lisa (Dean) Shrider of Belle Center, Letha Lucille (Patrick Blanchard ) Risner of Kenton, and Cara (fiance Ken Bartley) Lingrel of Utah; one brother, Ivory Shepherd of Cridersville; one sister, Barbara Kay (Paul) Bender of Lima; 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and a very special niece, Zora Keasler of Harrod.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Gordon Shepherd.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m..on Wednesday, May 1, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Elder Fred Preston and Elder Denver Caudill officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger and until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
