Urban Long was a lifelong farmer
Urban L. Long, age 91, passed away at his residence in Ada on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at 11:53 a.m.
He was born on Sept. 13, 1929, in LaFayette, Ohio, to the late Charles Raymond and Donna (Shrider) Long. On June 10, 1951, he married Alma M. Moyers and she preceded him in death on July 31, 2012.
Urban was a lifelong farmer. He was a lifelong member of the County Line Church of the Brethren, Harrod, and was a former Deacon as well as served in many capacities at the church. Urban was a conscientious objector to the draft and served his service in the Brethren Volunteer Service 2nd Unit. Urban and his father donated heifers to Heifer International Service.
Urban is survived by his two sons: Doyle Long of Ada and Nolan (Nelson Harper) Long of Xenia; a daughter, Carma (Michael) Sheely of Wapakoneta; eight grandchildren: Adam (Monica Biller) Long, Abigail Gill, Seth (Jen) Long, Alyse (Bassel) Almadani, Simon (Ashlie) Long, Jordan Long, Nelson (Alison) Long and Kiersten (Christopher) Tharp; many great grandchildren; and two sisters: E. Joan Zimmer of Ada and Sharon Quay of Kenton.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edison Long and a great granddaughter, Autumn Brady.
Private family services will be held with burial in St. Paul Cemetery, Ada. The funeral service for Urban will be live streamed on the Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook Page beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021.
Memorial contributions may be made to Brethren Volunteer Service and/or Heifer International.
