Matt Gossman re-elected Ada school board president for 2021

Melody Veltri, high school teacher, to retire at the end of the school year

Matt Gossman was re-elected Ada school board president for 2021 at the board’s reorganization meeting held on Jan. 14. The meeting includes several board appointments for the coming. The following report is from unofficial minutes from the meeting.
• Amy Mullins, named vice president
• Ronald Fleming and Troy Erickson, policy committee
• Troy Erickson, legislative liaison to Ohio School Boards Assn.
• Amy Mullins, student achievement liaison to Ohio School Boards Assn.
• Ronald Fleming, local tax abatement committee
• Ernest Daughtery, scholarship committee
• Troy Erickson and Amy Mullins, audit committee
• Matt Gossman and Ronald Fleming, building and grounds committee

The board set the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. as its regular monthly meeting date. The meetings will take place in the board of education office.

In the regular portion of the meeting the board accepted the resignation due to retirement of Melody Veltri at the end of the 2020-21 school year. She is now in her 11th year in the school system.

Several superintendent recommendations were approved:
• Tobin Smith, digital academy/physical education and health teacher
 • Caroline Filmer, teacher substitute
• Tracie Amburgey, educational aide/secretary substitute
