Ada boys to visit New Bremen in sectionals
By Cort Reynolds
ADA - The Ada boys basketball team was seeded 13th out of 14 teams at the Wapakoneta Div. IV sectional/district drawings held Sunday.
The Bulldog boys (2-14) will travel to New Bremen (12-6) to take on the fourth seed Cardinals Wednesday, February 24. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
NB is 5-2 in the rugged Midwest Athletic Conference.
"It will be a very difficult (draw)," said Ada head coach Jon Cook. "It was kind of a six or one half dozen of the other kind of thing," he said in reference to which MAC power to play.
The Ada/NB winner will then meet the survivor between fifth seed Marion Local (10-9, 4-3 MAC) and 12th seed Waynesfield-Goshen (3-13) in round two Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. at the site of the higher seed.
ML will be heavily favored vs. W-G.
Top-seeded Perry (14-3) received a first round bye into the sectional final Friday, Feb. 26 at home. The Commodores will host the Feb. 23 winner between seventh-seeded USV (10-7) and 10th seed Spencerville (7-12).
Perry beat the Rams 59-52 January 8 in McGuffey.
Minster (16-4, 8-0 MAC) was seeded second and St. Henry (13-6, 6-1 MAC) was tabbed as the third seed. MAC teams were voted the top six seeds in the 14-team bracket.
The four sectional winners will advance to the Wapakoneta district semifinals Tuesday evening, March 2. The district finals will be Friday night, March 5 at Wapak.
