Robert Williams was a founder of the Northwest Ohio Tractor Pullers

Robert A. Williams, Jr., 93, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, at 1:09 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on March 1, 1927, in Alger, Ohio, to the late Robert and Edna (Archer) Williams, Sr.  On June 19, 1955, Robert married Mary A. Evans and she survives in Alger.

Robert retired from Procter & Gamble, where he was the first one hired at the Lima Plant.  He was a founder and 50-year-member of the Northwest Ohio Tractor Pullers, where he helped to start the National Tractor Pull in Bowling Green, Ohio. 

Robert was a member of the Hardin County Collectors and Restorers.  He was a lifelong farmer.  Robert was a member of the Alger First United Methodist Church, where he transported commodities for 30 years from Lima and Toledo Food Banks for distribution at the Church’s Food Bank.

Also surviving are four sons: Tom (Vanessa) Williams of Findlay, Charles (Denise) Williams of Alger, David (Karyn) Williams of Phoenix, Arizona, and John (Deb) Williams, II of Alger; a daughter, Diana Williams of Crystal Springs, Florida; five grandchildren: John “Trey” (Courtney) Williams III, Spencer Williams, Hunter Williams, Sydney Williams and Tyler Williams; and two great grandchildren: Raelynn and Emmalynn.

Robert was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Mary Edna Williams; a brother, John Williams; and a sister, Anna Mae Fields.

It was his wish to be cremated. A private family service will be held at a later date, with burial in Grove Cemetery, Kenton.
