LIMA - The visiting Ada tennis team lost 4-1 to Bath on a windy Wednesday evening.

The Bulldog netters dropped to 2-4 after the defeat. Bath improved to 2-2 with the victory.

"It was a closely-contested match," said Ada head coach Dexter Woods. "It was also the second match in a row that Miranda and Dexter faced twin brothers at first and second singles," he added.

Ada senior Miranda Wills dropped to 3-3 this spring with a close two-set loss to hard-hitting Bath freshman Daniel Bolon at first singles.    

"Miranda played a long, close match that could have gone either way," said Woods. 

Bulldog junior southpaw Dexter Woods III stayed unbeaten (6-0) at second singles with a convincing straight-sets win.    

"He played a solid all-around game from the baseline and at the net," said coach Woods. 

Ada junior Brendan Jameson lost at third singles in two sets to an experienced senior. 

"They had many hard-fought points that with more experience, Brendan will eventually begin winning at key points during the match," offered Woods.

At first doubles, Ada sophomore Amelia Alexander and senior Cole Anspaugh lost in two sets to a junior Wildcat tandem. 

"Ada got off to a good start, but the Bath duo came on strong the rest of the match," said Woods.

Bulldog senior Colton Biederman and freshman Brendan Kah won the opening set at number two doubles, but ended up losing a tough three-setter to a Bath senior/junior duo.

"It was the longest match of the evening," said the coach. "It was a good varsity debut for Brendan."

1st singles: Daniel Bolon (B) defeated Miranda Wills (Ada) 6-3, 7-6 (7-5)    
2nd singles: Dexter Woods (Ada) def. Ezra Bolon (B) 6-2, 6-0    
3rd singles: Jacob Gardner (B) def. Brendan Jameson (Ada) 6-2, 6-2

1st doubles: Austin Miller/Will Miller (B) def. Amelia Alexander/Cole Anspaugh (Ada) 6-3, 6-0
2nd doubles: Harrison Abraham/Jemin Ghandi (B) def. Colton Biederman/Brendan Kah (Ada) 2-6, 6-4, 6-3

Ada will get a rematch vs. Bath at home April 28.

The Bulldogs entertain tough WBL foe Shawnee (8-1) Thursday, April 15 in the park at 4:30 p.m.

"Tomorrow we have a match against Lima Shawnee, a very strong team who defeated Bath 5-0 - and whose only blemish on the season was a loss to Findlay," noted Woods.
