Rich Prater was a 1985 Upper Scioto Valley HS graduate
Johnny Richard “Rich” Prater, Jr., 53, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 3:01 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born on May 13, 1967, in Lima, Ohio, to John R. and Evelyn (Downey) Prater, Sr., and they survive in Harrod.
Rich was a 1985 graduate of Upper Scioto Valley. Rich served in the Army Reserves from 1984 to 1990. He worked as a mechanic most of his life. Rich loved growing a garden, his children and grandchildren were most important to him, along with his dog Tippy.
Also surviving are his three children: Abby Prater of Lima, Rich Prater of Lima and Eric Prater of Columbus; five grandchildren: Gracie, Annabelle and Madalynn Prater, Maverick and Maddox Owens; and his sister, Amy (Kenny) Williams of Alger.
Attendance will be restricted at the funeral and visitation based on space to accommodate social distancing requirements. Face coverings must be worn while attending visitation and service. The family request casual attire for visitation and services.
Private family services will be held at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger, with Pastor Don Clinger officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Alger. The funeral service for Rich will be live streamed on the Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook Page beginning at noon on Tuesday, April 20.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, April 20, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger.
