Ada boys take two at Upper Scioto Valley

McGUFFEY - The visiting Ada baseball swept two games in a split non-conference doubleheader at McGuffey Saturday to run their win streak to three games.
Ada's record improved to .500 at 5-5 with the pair of wins. USV dropped to 2-7, and Botkins fell to 6-6 with the defeats to the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs led 2-0 early against the rival Rams. A seven-run top of the fourth ining blew the game open, 9-0. Ada tacked on five more runs in the top of the sixth to build the margin to a commanding 14-0.
USV scored two runs in the home sixth before the game was called due to the 10-run rule.
Junior hurler Kadin Phipps earned the pitching victory for Ada. He gave up just two hits and struck out six in 5 2/3 innings.
Tyler Jameson drove in three runs, scored a run and collected two hits for Ada. Jacob Morgan, Phipps and sophomore Spencer Wall each crossed home plate two times.
Jacob Poling knocked in three runs and scored two runs. Cameron Bober added three runs. Ada out-hit their rivals, 7-2.

In game two Ada was the home team and defeated Botkins, 5-3.
The Bulldogs plated three runs in the second inning and added one run in each of the third and fourth frames to construct a 5-1 cushion.
Botkins scored two runs in the sixth to slice their deficit in half. But Jameson came in to get the save and preserve the lead for Ada's third win in a row.
Senior Jacob Morgan scored two runs, had two hits and walked twice. Classmate Poling collected two RBI.
Ada sophomore Roman Snyder knocked out two hits, walked once and scored a pair of runs.
Sophomore Levi Sousley was the winning pitcher, and he also doubled in a run while scoring once.
Botkins whipped USV 19-2 in the third game.

Ada (1-2 NWC) resumes Northwest Conference play at Delphos Jefferson (6-7, 1-1 NWC) Monday, April 19. The Wildcats split a twinbill at future NWC member Leipsic Saturday.
The Bulldogs host former NWC foe Lima Central Catholic Thursday, April 22.
