Marshall paces undefeated Ada girls past Presidents

MARION⎯The white-hot Ada High School girls soccer team won 4-2 at Marion Harding Thursday evening, September 2, to stay unbeaten and set a program record.
The Lady Bulldog kickers improved to 4-0 this season to fashion the best start in program annals. "These girls wanted to do something this program hasn't seen before with the 4-0 start to the season, and were determined to get the win," said first-year Ada head coach Doug Dewese.
Junior Ella Marshall netted three goals and assisted on the other score to pace the Bulldog attack. Sophomore Lexi Poling tallied the other Ada goal. Junior Olivia Burkhart dished out a pair of assists.
Junior Katie Sizemore made a dozen saves in goal. Ada out-shot the Lady Presidents, 32-14.
"We overcame adversity with some players under the weather, some unable to attend, and some injuries during the game," noted Dewese. "We still managed to out-shoot them and put a solid defensive effort in," he continued. "Our girls knew this would be a very physical game based off past meetings, and they were prepared to meet those physical challenges head on.
"We also improved tactically this game, with it being a very solid attacking effort with cleaner passing and more control of the ball," he added.
Ada plays at North Central Ohio Soccer Association foe Riverdale (1-2-1) Wednesday, September 7 in the NCOSA opener. The Lady Bulldogs have outscored their opposition 21-6 this season.
