The Ada High School girls soccer team lost to visiting Crestview 4-1 Monday, September 12, in their Northwest Conference opener under the lights amid a light rain at War Memorial Park Stadium.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 4-2 this season overall and 0-1 in NWC action with the defeat. The Knight girls improved to 3-4 and 1-1 in league play with the victory.

"A lot of miscues led to this result," said first-year Ada head coach Doug Dewese. "Our play was good and the girls were doing things we had been working on in practice, so I can't complain that the effort wasn't there.

"The girls played hard and made three mistakes which led to three goals," he explained. "You just can't dig a 3-1 hole at halftime and expect to come out of it."

Crestview raced to a 3-0 lead and led by two goals at intermission.

A shot by Katelyn Castle sailed just wide of the left post with 26:51 to go in the first half. A minute later the Knights had a corner kick blocked by Ada keeper Katie Sizemore, and the rebound shot flew over the crossbar.

Castle had another good scoring try go wide from the right side. The Knights then scored at the 21:12 mark.

One hundred seconds later, they tallied again as Castle scored.

At the 18:10 mark, the Knight keeper made a nice diving save.

The Bulldog girls got on the scoreboard via a goal with 15:22 left in the first half. Lexi Poling tallied on an assist from Olivia Burkhart to pull Ada within two scores.

The Crestview keeper made a save at the 2:34 mark. A 27-yard Knight shot as the half expired was saved by Katie Sizemore.

Knight goalie then made a save at the 2:34 mark. A 27-yard Castle shot as the half expired was saved by Sizemore.

Knight Elle Ward added another score midway through the second half to put the game out of reach.

Junior Burkhart made two fine solo runs to get off shots at 12 minutes and at the 4:30 mark, but couldn't find the back of the net.

The Bulldogs (1-1 home) entertain Liberty-Benton (3-2-2) Wednesday evening, September 14.

"The girls now have to learn how to respond to two tough losses in a row," said the coach.
