AHS girls soccer lose to Upper Sandusky
By Cort Reynolds
The Ada High School girls soccer team played well but lost 4-2 to visiting Upper Sandusky in a tough North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Thursday evening, September 22.
The Lady Bulldog record fell to 4-5 overall and 0-3 in NCOSA play with the defeat. Upper improved to 4-2-1 overall and 2-1 in NCOSA action with the win.
Ada trailed 1-0 when Olivia Burkhart tied the match on a through ball from Ella Marshall at the 22-minute mark.
Upper Sandusky regained the lead 2-1 at the halftime break.
The Bulldogs battled back to tie it again 2-2 four minutes into the second half. Karmen Hall delivered a corner kick that bounced into the box area, and Lexi Poling knocked it into the net to knot the score again.
But the Rams then tallied two goals to untie it and win.
"We played the best we have played in the last five games, but couldn't overcome a few mistakes that equaled goals for Upper," said Ada first-year head coach Doug Dewese.
"We did find the back of the net and get our offense clicking again, which has struggled the last few games," he continued.
The Ada girls (0-2 NWC) play host to league leader Bluffton (9-2, 4-0 NWC) in a conference match Monday night, September 26. The Pirate girls whipped Delphos Jefferson 7-0 Thursday night.
"We have a tough Bluffton game to get through next, but we seem to be rebounding from this five-game skid we have been on," said Dewese. The Bulldog girls (0-3 NCOSA) then visit NCOSA foe Cory-Rawson (2-7, 0-3 NCOSA) Sept. 28.
