Project DAWN and overdose surge alerts
DEADLY BATCH ALERTS
A text alerts network has been established in Ohio for early warnings about deadly batches of drugs and overdose surges in Northwest Ohio.
For example, on November 4, three overdoses in 24 hours were reported in Hancock County.
Text “SOAR” to 419-670-7627 to receive Overdose Surge and Deadly Batch Alerts when there is a spike in overdoses or dangerous drugs are found in your area.
Plus, anonymously report deadly batches to help keep your community safe. Get The SOAR App on iOS or Android to securely submit your report, or submit right at https://thesoarinitiative.org/submit-report
PROJECT DAWN
The Kenton Hardin Health Department has partnered with Hardin Memorial Hospital, County Prosecutor Bradford Bailey, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, and the County Coroner Lawrence Kuk Jr., MD to bring Project DAWN to the area.
The program is a community-based training program that teaches rescue breathing and how to properly administer Naloxone in the event of an opioid overdose. Check our homepage or calendar for upcoming events. This program is locally funded by the County Prosecutor and the Health Department.
Although drug usage has affected our area, this training is useful for those that may have an accidental overdose from prescribed medications. Any person that knows someone that takes an opioid should consider attending this training.
