22nd Annual LUNAFEST brings films by and about women to Kenton
LUNAFEST®, a fundraising film festival dedicated to amplifying stories by women and gender nonconforming filmmakers, and bringing people together in their communities, will be hosted by Soroptimist International of Kenton/Hardin County at Kenton 3 Theater in Kenton on April 1, 2023.
LUNAFEST believes that sharing diverse perspectives can spark conversation, connection, and change. In a span of 90 minutes, these films tackle universal themes of friendship, bravery, and community—while also breaking down barriers and celebrating the importance of finding joy.
All proceeds from this LUNAFEST event will benefit local women and girls and Chicken & Egg Pictures, a nonprofit organization that supports women nonfiction filmmakers whose artful and innovative storytelling catalyzes social change. Since 2001, LUNAFEST, which is created and funded by LUNA®, has raised more than $7 million for nonprofit organizations, featured 175 women filmmakers, and hosted over 2,900 screenings across the US. and Canada.
Making a difference in Hardin County since 1965 Soroptimist International of Kenton/Hardin County works on many projects that benefit women locally and globally. Soroptimist believe the most effective way to empower women and girls is by providing them with access to education. Educated women and girls are far more likely to realize their potential.
Soroptimist, a 501(c)3 organization, is a dynamic group of women who care about making the world a better place for women and girls.
