Funeral arrangements for Susie Wright
Susie Wright, age 93, of Piqua, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the Koester Pavillion in Troy.
She was born on October 16, 1929 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Douglas and Rebecca (Moore) Hicks who preceded her in death. On July 22, 1951 Susie married Wilkie Wright and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2018.
Susie retired in 1978 from the Upper Valley Schools, where she worked as a teacher’s aid for 12 years. She later worked at Lima Memorial Hospital in the cafeteria for 7 years, retiring in 1991. Susie attended the Abundant Life Baptist of Piqua. She was a graduate of Roundhead High School class of 1949 and then attended Ohio Northern University, Ada.
She is survived by his three children: Steven (Judy) Wright of Covington, Kevin (Missie) Wright of Urbana and Kimberly Klopfenstein of Ada; Eight grandchildren: Steven Tyler Wright, Travis Wright, Jordan Wright, Brittany Zuver, Eric Lensman, Chad Lensman, Jennifer Linger and Jessica Bishop; and fifteen great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers: Lawrence Hicks, Dingous Hicks, Dan Hicks, Bradie Hicks, Birdie Hicks, Madison Prater and Lazara Prater; and three sisters: Isania Dotson, Lela Poe and Gertrude McIntosh.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Pastor Scott Euton officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 17 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Abundant Life Baptist Church, 726 Wilson Avenue, Piqua, Ohio 45356.
