Park-in-the-Park car, truck and bike show is June 10
Hosted by Ada's Ream McElroy VFW Post 9381
By Paula Scott
The Ada VFW will present its 4th annual Park-in-the-Park car, truck and bike show on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Ada's War Memorial Park. Proceeds from the show will benefit the park and the Hardin County chapter of Blue Star Mothers.
Vehicle registration is from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. for a donation of $10. The first 100 registrants will receive a dash plaque and wooden dog tags.
At 5:00 p.m. that day, 48 trophies and plaques will be awarded.
In addition to vehicles on display:
- Vietnam Memorial Wall replica
- General Dynamics Abrams Mini-tank will launch t-shirts around the park
- Food trucks
- Raffles and door prizes
- Playground and community pool (pool entrance fee)
- 5:00 p.m. Prizes awarded
- 7:00 p.m. Hardin County Tractor Pullers Spring Pull
Organizer Wynn Hauenstein told the Icon that the car show has grown dramatically since 2015, when the VFW held a show in their parking lot. The event soon outgrew this space and moved first uptown and then to Ada’s War Memorial Park, which provides six acres of shaded and open display space, as well as picnic shelters and bathrooms.
Hauenstein noted that Ada has one of the most beautiful parks in the area, which the VFW supports with this event. He also explained that in keeping with the military theme of the show, proceeds also benefit the Hardin County Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers, which is open to parents of men and women in the military. The organization sends care packages in November to those who are serving overseas.
Raffle items include a Sarka SS Grill donated by Sarka Industries of Kalida; 2023 commemorative Super Bowl Footballs courtesy of Wilson Manufacturing, a 3-ton floor jack from KOI, Bluffton; 1-night stay and gift basket at The Inn At ONU; six day passes for the Bowling Green National Tractor Pull; and a Grit Guard courtesy of Associated Plastics of Ada.
Hauenstein also noted that all tractor pull track preparation will be done prior to the car show to eliminate dust and noise.
