Marshall sets goal record with hat trick

The Ada High School girls soccer team scored early and cruised to a 6-0 win over visiting Cory-Rawson in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association mismatch Wednesday, September 27, on Senior Night at War Memorial Stadium.
Bulldog senior Ella Marshall netted three goals to extend her program career record to 47.
With the hat trick she also broke her own Ada season mark for goals with 18, surpassing her record of 16 set last year.
Senior passing ace Olivia Burkhart netted two goals, and junior Lexi Poling added the other goal.
With the dominating win, Ada improved to 6-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 in NCOSA action.
C-R fell to 0-9-1 and 0-4 in NCOSA play with the loss.
“It was our senior recognition night where we highlighted our eight seniors, so the emotions were pretty high and it helped coming out firing,” said Ada head coach Doug Dewese.
“Our first goal only took us 40 seconds and we dominated play all night,” he continued. “I was proud of our defense for keeping the ball away from Katie (Sizemore) and preserving a shutout.
“It was only fitting that Olivia Burkhart got a couple of goals, and Ella Marshall got to break her own record with a hat trick.”
Senior Elsie Allen dished out two assists for Ada. Seniors Karmen Hall and Kiah Hefner each doled out one assist, as did sophomores Alex Gibson and Jordyn Smith.
Ada scored in the game’s first minute, and tallied with 1:58 left in the first half to take a 4-0 bulge to intermission. The Bulldogs added two goals after halftime to win going away.
Bulldog senior keeper Katie Sizemore saved one shot and recorded her third shutout of the year, which ties a program single-season record.
“This is the first time this group of seniors has beaten Cory-Rawson, so it made Senior Night even more special,” Dewese summed up.
“I just want to thank these seniors for their effort and work this year, and I could not think of a more fitting outcome for them on their night,” he added.
Ada visits winless Van Wert (0-11) Saturday at 10 a.m.
