Tom Owen McCalla worked for Ford Motor Company
Tom Owen McCalla, age 81, of Harrod, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 4, 1942, in Belle Center, Ohio to the late Hubert and Evelyn (Spencer) McCalla. On December 21, 1975 Tom married Emma Jean Shepherd and she survives in Harrod.
Also surviving is his son, Mark Anthony McCalla of Perry, Florida; two grandsons and three granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Caroline Sue McCalla Vanderlaan; two brothers: Jack McCalla and Brice McCalla; and grandmother, Elsie Spencer Hughes.
Tom formerly worked for Ford Motor Company of Lima and he retired from Cooper Tire after twenty-five years as a millwright and machinist. He was a member of the Hog Creek Game Club. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting and being a sportman. He also enjoyed racing cars at Kettlersville. Tom and his wife Jean enjoyed antiquing and traveling together.
Funeral Services will begin at 3:00 PM on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Monday, October 2nd from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and/or the Susan G. Komen Cancer Breast Foundation Northwest Ohio.
