Answers and more questions about occupancy for Ada's 1887 Passenger Depot
By Paula Pyzik Scott
In a follow up from the December 19, 2023 meeting of the Ada Council, Village Administrator Jamie Hall has researched the certificate of occupancy for the 1887 Ada Passenger Depot at 9 Central Ave. It shows an occupant load of 25 people.
This information is provided in a memo included in the information packet for tonight’s (February 9) 6:30 p.m. council meeting. In the memo, Hall also notes council instructions to “add the occupant load number to the rental agreement form, post the certificate of occupancy at the depot and contact the chief of the fire department for comment on the occupant load,” all of which he has done.
Hall explains that the 2002 certificate was done during a renovation project. A business use classification was made rather than an assembly classification, which would require ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) upgrades.
Hall is now asking for further instruction from council and asks if there is interest in a study to determine what upgrades would be needed to increase occupancy.
