Mustangs Jones, Brooks 2nd team all-district; Clum makes boys 2nd team

HARROD__Two Allen East girl hoop standouts were voted second team All-District 8 in basketball for the 2023-24 season by the D8 Coaches Association recently.
Mustang junior guard Rilynn Jones and AE senior forward Savana Brooks were named to the district 8 second team for Divisions I-II-III.
The dynamic duo has led AE to a 20-2 record as they currently ride a 12-game win streak.
Jones leads AE in scoring (16.0) and steals (3.8) per game. She has also grabbed three rebounds per contest.
The multi-faceted Brooks averages 14.4 ppg, 4.4 rebounds and two steals per game. She leads AE in assists (2.6), free throw percentage (70) and three-point pct. (34).
Brooks and Jones each have shot 42 percent from the field this season. Both were also picked to the All-Northwest Conference first team after leading AE to a 6-2 record and third place in the league.
Lauren Gerken of Liberty-Benton was voted District 8 Divs. I-II-III Player of the Year. Crestview’s Cali Gregory was named Div. IV District 8 Player of the Year.
Speedy Allen East 5-9 senior point guard Carson Clum was also voted second team All-District 8 for boys in Divs. I-II-III.
Clum has led AE to an 11-9 record and a 4-3 Northwest Conference mark. The versatile guard tops the Mustangs in scoring (15.6), rebounds (7.3), assists (6.3) and steals (5.1) per game.
Upper Scioto Valley senior standout Alex Sanders was named second team All-District 8 for Div. IV. The 6-1 Sanders led USV (13-8) to its second straight NWCC title at 8-0 this season.
Sanders leads USV in scoring and rebounding and is among the Ram assist leaders.
