The mother-daughter team of Deb Curliss and Jennifer McDougall have created a new shopping opportunity in Ada called Our Garden of Gifts. McDougall is a local sewer who wanted to help support other small businesses. Curlis is the director of two nearby thrift shops, Beatitudes and Bee Home. When the retail space became available at 220 N. Main St., they jumped at the opportunity.
Our Garden of Gifts opened this past week and was celebrated with a March 9 Ada Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony. Shoppers will find many changes to the space, including new peg-board partitions, lighting and color scheme.
The Icon met two vendors in person among the 40 that fill the shop with their products. Ann Boyd of My Own Back Yard Herbs & Flowers was on hand to sell herbed shortbread, the first featured baker to be spotlighted on Saturdays. She also had herb blends for cooking and aromatherapy. Local key chain and name badge maker Jamie Neff (Momma J’s Creations) expressed her enjoyment of having a place to share her work and the fun of making--and to have an outlet that is easier than setting up at a craft show.
A sampling of items for sale are parent and child matching aprons, whiskey barrel decor, books, jewelry made from silverware, handmade cutting boards, 3D-printed toys, honey products, wine bottle dress-ups, vintage linens and gnome magnets. McDougall has worked hard to provide such variety, making connections with vendors across the country, as well as nearby.
Our Garden of Gifts is open Tuesday-Friday from 12:00-5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Phone 419-788-9459; Email [email protected].
