MT. CORY__The visiting Ada High School softball team defeated Cory-Rawson 19-1 in a run-rule shortened contest Thursday evening, March 28. 

Junior hurler Jenna Bassitt pitched a five-inning no-hitter to earn her third win of the opening week.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-0 with the win. C-R fell to 0-2 with the loss.

Ada out-hit Cory-Rawson 14-0 and capitalized on 13 Hornet errors.

The Bulldogs jumped ahead 5-1 after the first inning and cruised to victory. Ada plated two runs in the second and tallied six more in the third to build a 13-1 advantage. 

The visitors then scored two times in the fourth and added six runs in the fifth to win their third straight run-rule shortened, five-inning game this week.

Bassitt struck out 10 and aided her own cause with a double and two singles.

Ada junior first baseman Aidra Preston slammed a home run over the center field fence, and also legged out a triple.

Junior shortstop Karley Wagner smacked a single, double and a triple. Junior center fielder Tessa Griffith drilled a triple. Senior Daicy Robinson stroked two singles, and right fielder Alainee Buxton singled.

Junior catcher Natilyn McClain and freshman second sacker Reese Jordan also contributed one single apiece.

All 18 Bulldogs saw action in the blowout win.

Weather permitting, Ada hosts local arch-rival USV (0-2) Saturday in a doubleheader at 11 a.m. 

The Rams lost 25-5 to Botkins Tuesday, and fell 10-3 to Riverdale Wednesday.
