Forrest John Clingerman taught at Ohio Northern University
Forrest John Clingerman, 52, passed away April 21, 2024, at his home.
Forrest was born January 29, 1972 in Terre Haute, IN, to John and Claire (Spaulding) Clingerman who survive. On August 20, 1994 he married Gail (Pearson) Clingerman who also survives.
Forrest graduated from Deerfield Academy, in Deerfield, MA. He then received his bachelors from Augustanna College in Rock Island, Illinois, where he met his wife, Gail. He received his Masters of Divinity from Boston University before earning his Ph.D from the University of Iowa. Forrest was a dedicated professor of philosophy and religion at Ohio Northern University and served as the director of the honors program there since 2019. In his free time, Forrest enjoyed hiking, backpacking, bird watching and geocaching. He loved being outdoors and was a Cub Scout leader for 5 years. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his mother, Claire Clingerman of Orange, MA; father, John Clingerman of Myrtle Beach, SC; wife, Gail Clingerman of Bluffton; two children, Sabina and Asa Clingerman of Bluffton; two sisters, Mercedes (George) Clingerman of Orange, MA, and Heatherle Clingerman of Woonsocket, RI; and two nieces.
Services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton with Pastor Elizabeth Kelly to officiate the service. Burial will take place at a later date in Orange, MA. Visitation will be Saturday, April 27, 2024, 11:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnny Appleseed Park District.
